Summer Declutter: It’s More Than Just a Tidy Home
As the sunshine rolls in and the days get longer, many of us feel that itch to throw open the windows, clear out the cupboards, and breathe some fresh energy into our homes.
But what if I told you that decluttering isn’t just about folding towels the Marie Kondo way or finally clearing out the drawer of doom in the kitchen?
Decluttering can be one of the most powerful self-care practices — not just for your physical space, but for your mental, digital, emotional, and relational spaces too.
Start with the Space Around You
Let’s face it — our homes hold energy. That pile of clothes you “might wear again one day”? That drawer full of tangled chargers and random keys? It all adds noise to your everyday life.
Take a few hours this summer to clear out the bits that no longer serve you. Keep what feels good, fresh, and functional. Donate the rest. You’ll be amazed how much lighter you’ll feel.
Digital Declutter = Instant Relief
Your phone might be your lifeline — but it can also be a source of serious overwhelm.
Here are a few quick wins:
- Delete the apps you haven’t opened in 3+ months.
- Turn off notifications that interrupt your peace or productivity.
- Use the “Focus” mode on your phone when you need to protect your time, be present, or just have a moment to yourself.
Your phone should work for you — not the other way around.
Declutter Your Circle
This might be the toughest part — but maybe the most important.
Take a moment to think about the people in your life. Who lifts you up? And who drains your energy before you’ve even met them for coffee?
If someone makes you feel small, guilty, or never enough — it’s time to pause and reflect. You don’t have to ghost everyone or burn bridges, but you are allowed to step back.
You don’t need to explain or justify.
You don’t need to keep overgiving to keep the peace.
Saying no isn’t rude — it’s respectful.
Respectful to yourself.
It’s not about being an a-hole. It’s about being a priority in your own life.
You Deserve Space to Breathe and Bloom
This summer, give yourself the gift of space — to feel clearer, calmer, and more in control of your life. Decluttering isn’t just about clearing — it’s about making room.
Room for joy.
Room for peace.
Room for you.
